The HOLLANGE branch
Michel
Joseph DELPERDANGE
was born in
Bastogne
<•>
on January 4, 1828. His father, Jean Joseph
DELPERDANGE, was a bricklayer. After the death of
his first wife, Marie Thérèse WILLOT he married
Marie Josèphe SACK, originating from Hardigny.
They settled in Bastogne where their first three
children were born. About 1835 they left this town for
Hollange where their
other children were born. Their children and
grandchildren will be responsible for the presence of
the name DELPERDANGE in the municipalities of Hollange,
Sainlez and Fauvillers for more than a century
|
Since most of the ancestors of Michel Joseph
DELPERDANGE were born in Bastogne and living
there, he can be directly traced to Henri
HANSY, the common forefather of all those
who carry the name DELPERDANGE:

|
Michel Joseph DELPERDANGE
was 7 years old when his parents left Bastogne to settle
in HOLLANGE. Together with his sisters and brothers he
grew up on his parents’ farm. At the age of 26, two
years after his father’s death on September 17, 1844 he
married Marie Marguerite LAMBERT
<•>,
a girl from the neighbouring village Sainlez, who like
he was living in a farmers’ family. Some years later he
settled with his family in the village of his in-laws.
They gave birth to 8 children :
 |
Jean Baptiste, born in Hollange
on July 11, 1855<•>
|
 |
Nicolas Joseph, born in Hollange
on September 22, 1856. He died some weeks later.
|
 |
Jean Joseph, born in Sainlez
on March
10, 1858<•>.
|
 |
Guillaume Joseph, born in Sainlez
on September 13, 1859<•>
|
 |
Marie Mélanie, born in Sainlez
on June 12, 1861<•>.
|
 |
Henri Joseph, her twin brother<•>,
died one month later in July 1861<•>.
|
 |
A stillborn child, in Sainlez
on September 3, 1863<•>.
|
 |
Emile Henri Joseph, born in
Sainlez on August 25, 1864<•>.
|
Marie Marguerite LAMBERT
died on March 13, 1876 only 54 years old. Five years
later, on December 7, 1881, Michel Joseph remarried
<•>
the 31-year-old Marie Marguerite LALLEMAND,
originating from Hollange.
This second marriage did not last very long : in May
1882 their daughter Marie Barbe Mathilde was born
<•>.
But 1 year later Marie Marguerite LALLEMAND died
<•>
at the birth of her second child Henri Joseph, on
September 7, 1883<•>.
This child also died some months later, in April 1884
.
It is possible that Michel Joseph had another son
Adolphe Joseph Anatole, born on July 31 from an
unknown mother. This however still has to be confirmed.
Michel Joseph DELPERDANGE died in Sainlez on
March 17, 1905 at the age of 77
<•>.
We do not know what happened later on to Guillaume,
Marie Mélanie and Emile Henri Joseph,
children of the first marriage and to Adolphe Joseph
Anatole, born in 1884.
Marie Barbe Mathilde
became a seamstress. On December 18, 1901 she married
Henri Emile DEMANDE, a farmer in Hollange<•>.
We do not dispose of any information on their possible
children. Marie Barbe Mathilde died in 1946, her
husband Henri Emile DEMANDE in 1965. They were
buried on the churchyard of Bastogne<•>.
Jean Baptiste
settled in Harlange (Grand Duchy of Luxemburg) after his
marriage. Thanks to his 3 sons and 2 daughters the name
DELPERDANGE is still heard there until the present day.
It is Jean Joseph DELPERDANGE who with his wife
Marie Joséphine THILMANY and their 10 children of
whom 9 sons is at the basis of the further presence of
the DELPERDANGES in Holange and Sainlez (see generation
8).
On Wednesday August 29, 1894 Jean Joseph DELPERDANGE,
son of Michel Joseph and Marie Marguerite
LAMBERT, married Marie Joséphine THILMANY<•>.
Marie Joséphine was born in Honville on May 21,
1869, she was 25 years old, her husband 36.

Jean Joseph DELPERDANGE and Marie Joséphine THILMANY
around 1920
Between 1894 and 1908 they will have 10 children, who
were all born in Hollange :
 |
Nestor Joseph,
born on November 18, 1894<•>
|
 |
Prosper Emile,
born on March 25, 1896<•>.
He died at the age of 3, on April 15 1899<•>.
|
 |
Firmin Jules
Joseph, born on November 14, 1897<•>
|
 |
Emile Joseph,
born on December 23, 1899<•>
|
 |
Marcel Eudore
Joseph, born on January 26, 1901<•>
|
 |
Fernand Emile
Joseph, born on February 7, 1902
|
 |
Maria Joséphine

|
 |
Adolphe Joseph,

|
 |
Cyrille Joseph,
born on July 14, 1906<•>
|
 |
Edgar Emile
Joseph, born on November 9, 1908.
|
Firmin Jules Joseph
became a farmer like his father. He died in Sainlez on
April 5, 1920 at the age of 22, without any descendants.
His seven still living brothers and his sister will all
reach the adult age, marry and get children.
So Jean Joseph DELPERDANGE and Marie Joséphine
THILMANY are at the start of an impressing
genealogical branch. Jean Joseph died in Sainlez
on June 19, 1919 at the age of 61<•>.
His wife died in the same municipality on September 18,
1636, at the age of 67.
